The most valuable F1 teams: Ferrari leads at $6.5 billion

Forbes values Ferrari at $6.5B, Mercedes at about $6B and McLaren at $4.4B. The average team value is now $3.6B.

A Formula 1 team is a company that sells something very scarce: a seat in the most-followed motorsport championship. That scarcity —there are only eleven teams and no more can be created without agreement— has made its value soar in a few years. Every autumn Forbes publishes its list of the most valuable teams, and the 2025 edition confirms the trend: the ten teams were worth an average of $3.6 billion.

Ferrari and Mercedes, at the top

Ferrari leads with about $6.5 billion, a record for the series. Mercedes is very close, at about 6 billion, a figure Forbes takes from the price agreed in a minority-stake sale (Toto Wolff's agreement), 58% above what Forbes calculated two years earlier. It is an unusual case: not a theoretical estimate but a deal price.

McLaren, Red Bull and Aston Martin

McLaren is valued at about $4.4 billion for the F1 team alone: the owners of McLaren Racing bought out the minority stakes at a valuation of the group of about 4.5 billion. Red Bull appears at 4.35 in Forbes and 4.32 in Sportico, and Aston Martin at 3.2 and 3.0 respectively. The coincidence between the two sources gives some confidence in these figures.

What these valuations mean

Teams do not control the series or its commercial rights, which have belonged to Liberty Media since 2017; what Forbes and Sportico value is the team's business, which includes its share of F1's revenue, sponsorships and its brand. Except for deals like Mercedes's, they are estimates, not sale prices. And like all estimates, they depend on assumptions: what looks expensive today may prove cheap if F1's business keeps growing, or the other way round.
