Spa-Francorchamps (7.004 km), Monaco (3.337 km) and Monza: key facts about the calendar's most extreme circuits.
Summary
- Spa-Francorchamps is the longest circuit on the calendar: 7.004 km.
- Monaco is the shortest: 3.337 km; its races are cut to 260 km.
- Monza, Monaco and Silverstone were already on the first calendar in 1950; Monza has hosted a race every year except 1980.
Step by step
The longest: Spa
7.004 km through the Belgian Ardennes, more than double Monaco. Its original layout exceeded 14 km on public roads.
The shortest: Monaco
3.337 km. At that length the 305 km distance would take more than two hours, so its race is cut to 260 km.
Monza
5.793 km. It has hosted the Italian Grand Prix every year since the first championship in 1950, except 1980, when it was closed for works.
The oldest
It depends on the criterion: Spa opened in 1921 and Monza in 1922, but Monza, Monaco and Silverstone have hosted more F1 races than Spa.
